All you need to know about Henchmen
They rock. Plain and simple. There is however, a catch. You need 2 live people to manage them. This goes off one simple fact, henchmen move with whoever is in motion. It is also a good idea to have a balanced group, do not take all casters, always take fighters as well. Here's a couple hints.
#1. Always start the group with a partner, if you are a Mo, get a warrior. If you are a warrior, get a Mo.
#2. Balance the henchmen group. Use Mage, Healer, Fighter, Brawler (I like the cultist in later missions as well). When you get to 8 man groups, it doesn't really matter but always take the fighters. If you have played this game for more than a day you know that every enemy will rush your casters. Fighters have more hitpoints and armor therefore they are not as big of an energy drain on your monk.
#3. Whoever is the Mo, is in control of the henchmen at all times. The trick is, when you find a group of monsters you want to fight, find a nice safe spot to pull them back too ie. "Kill Zone". The Mo will run to that spot and then move around in circles, always in motion. The Warrior will stay still so all henchmen go over to the Mo. Make sure the Warrior is outside the "agro bubble" before he goes out to pull the mobs. None of the henchmen will follow him.
#4. The Warrior will pull the mobs and run back inside the Kill ZOne with the awaiting henchmen. Make sure the Warrior targets who he is going to kill. When the warrior arrives inside the circle, he simply presses the <spacebar> to attack the targetted mob. The fighter henchmen WILL attack that mob as well as the range henchmen.
#5. Kill, repeat.
-----------
The main problem people are having with henchmen is that when you run to a group(s) and straight attack the mobs, the henchmen tend to wander around a bit and agro things near them. This tactic eliminates that factor. It may take longer but you will not wipe or go through the mission hoping to God one of the henchmen lives to use a res signet. You cannot also attack an area with mooshed together groups that will agro easily if you just rush in and attack. Places like the desert and Fire Island are perfect examples of places you need to pull to your "kill zone".
My wife and I have nearly completed every mission with henchmen in this manner. Sure, we have done missions with groups of real people, mostly guildmates we are going back to help. But we learned quickly that by taking our time and doing it right, henchmen are a great asset and pack an amazing punch. Though that damn Mhenlo thinks he's a @)#$%( warrior sometimes and he enjoys swimming in lava.
*** No, you cannot do Underworld/Fissure with henchmen. Lol, no. Just no.
